Botanical Gardens and Nourishing the Body

Sometimes we have to nourish the spirit as well as the body. I do this through scent and sight and no place is more rewarding for me than botanical gardens.

When we were in Washington, DC, Meghan and I visited the United States Botanic Garden and it was breathtaking. It was first envisioned by George Washington and then established by James Madison so  the USBG has been around in some form since 1820, and at its current Capitol Hill location since 1933.

The striking glass conservatory holds 10 garden rooms, two courtyard gardens, and thousands of diverse plants. My favorite was the orchid room, the cactus room and the entry hall.

Try to get there someday and if that is not happening, find any garden and enjoy its pleasures.
